Plan emerging for Hampton's Strawberry Banks

Hampton University President William Harvey is dreaming of high-end housing on Strawberry Banks. The school purchased the 200-acre former motel property on the Chesapeake Bay about 15 years ago and used the building as a dormitory through the spring semester of 2010 before moving the school’s equestrian program to the property for a short time. Now, Harvey has proposed building a residential neighborhood that includes four different kinds of homes on the site – upscale estates, carriage homes, townhouses and condominiums.
